IPNEWS: Liberia was afforded the opportunity for the first time to Speak at the United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit held at the UN Headquarters in New York under the theme: “Fostering Sustainable Peace and Development through United Nations Policing.”
Liberia’s Inspector General, Patrick Sudue used the occasion to boast of the successes made by his administration since being afforded the opportunity to participate on UN Missions.
In his presentation, IG Sudue appreciated the United Nations for its continued support to the security sector of Liberia, especially the Liberia National Police.
Currently, the Liberia National Police has a total of seven officers deployed in UNMISS with 25 percent female representation.
He also expressed commitment of his administration in ensuring that the United Nations Headquarters SAAT team request of 25% females for deployment is adhered to while at the same time calling for more UN support towards building the capacities of LNP female officers for UN Mission readiness.
IG Sudue boasted of the excellent performances of the officers that have already been deployed on UN Mission which is bringing pride to Liberia as a post-conflict nation.
Interestingly, this is the first time in the history of the Liberia National Police that our Inspector General has attended and given t opportunity to make remarks.
This achievement marks a turning point in the history of the Liberia National Police and the security sector of Liberia.
Liberia National Police Academy and Training School Admitted into International Association of Police Academies
The Liberia National Police Academy and Training School have been admitted into the International Association of Police Academies.
This decision followed a careful examination of best practices and great presentation made by our head of Police Training, Deputy Inspector General for Training, Hon. Sabastine Farr at the just-ended conference of heads of Police Academies in Bangladeshi.
The conference which lasted from 12th to the 14th of September, brought together 116 participants from various countries around the world.
Liberia was admitted at the International Association of Police Academies along with Nigeria and Croatia.
As many of you may be interested in what this great news means for Liberia, such admittance of our Police Academy and Training School in the International Association of Police Academies now renders our training and awards with huge international recognition.
Additionally, Liberia now stands to benefit from more international security training which will further enhance the capacities of our law enforcement officers.
LNP Opens Investigation in Security Threat Videos
The Liberia National Police has launched investigations into videos containing ba arrage of information that borders on national security invoking terrorist group operations in Liberia.
The LNP appreciates the timely response of the International Community through the European Union to one of the videos which pose a serious threat to national security.
Hence, the Liberia National Police and the National Security Agency have already begun its joint investigation in ensuring that those responsible for said videos are made to face the full weight of the law.
While said investigation is ongoing, the public can be assured that the Liberia National Police and other Joint Security Institutions will leave no stone unturned in jealously protecting the peace and stability of the state.
Liberia, as a post-conflict nation has experienced a lot of devastation and is never prepared to resort to its ugly days of the war.
As such, every citizen is urged to support peace and condemn anything that seeks to return our country to its ugly past.
LNP Forwards to Court Two Suspects for Armed Robbery and Illegal Possession of Firearm
The Liberia National police has forwarded to court, a 24 year- old resident of Logan Town, identified as Jordan Sagbeh, with the crimes, Criminal Conspiracy, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Theft of Property in violation of the Revised Penal code of Liberia.
During preliminary investigation conducted with suspect Jordan Sagbeh and victim Abenego Toe, it was established that victim Abenego Toe was attacked on July 12, 2022 on Logan Town Broad Street by the suspect and his accomplices who were armed with cutlasses, scissors, thus injuring the victim on his left shoulder and his face and making always with a blue Techno Camon 16 and two hundred United States Dollars.
Suspect Sagbah has been forwarded to court for prosecution.
Meanwhile, a 22- year – old suspect identified as Ted , alias Zakacolo, a resident of Supermarket Community has been arrested, investigated and subsequently charged with the crime of Possession and Sale of Physical Objects for Lethal Use in violation of Chapter 17, section 17 of the reversed Penal Code of Liberia.
Suspect Prince Ted was arrested on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 with a single barrel short gun based on a tip-off from community dwellers and has been forwarded to court for prosecution.
