Minister Wolokollie Reassures Govt’s Commitment in Education Sector

IPNEWS: The Deputy Minister of Finance and Development Planning Minister for Fiscal Affairs Samora P. Z Wolokollie has reassured the Government of Liberia’s commitment to providing more resources to improve the educational system in the country.

Speaking at the Sixth Graduation Ceremony of the Sekou I. Sheriff School System in Monrovia on Sunday, September 18, 2022, Wolokolie announced the Government’s commitment to more efforts to boost the educational system across the Country.

According to him, President Weah’s regime has put in place strategies to minimize some of the challenges students are faced with.

“Some of the paramount challenges have been minimized including paying: West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) fees for 9 and 12 graders; free tuition for Public Universities paid by President Weah’s administration”, Wolokollie stated.

However, he encouraged the Principal of the School, Mr. Varmuyah S. Sheriff to share with other schools across the Country their strategy that’s always making their students perform excellently in the WEAC exam.

Meanwhile, the Valedictorian of the school, Student Mariama K. Keita called on the stakeholders to invest more resources into Liberia’s education system, as quality education changes society positively.

In his remark, the Principal of Sekou I. Sheriff School System, Mr. Varmuyah S. Sheriff noted that the strategies they apply for their student to always pass the WAEC is that they don’t encourage their students to boycott classes, especially on Fridays to attend to other social activities, but rather they have encouraged them to focus on their respective academic lessons.

“We took 44 students for the WEAC this year and 41 came out successful in division one”, Principal   Sheriff proudly stated.
