” Time to Change the Governance System”, Free Liberia Movement Asserts

—Call for U.S. Visa Waiver for Liberians

IPNEWS: A Liberian, U.S.-based democracy group ‘Free Liberia Movement, is calling for a change in the governance system of Liberia, which must experience rapid peace and development.

According to the Movement, it is time to begin a fresh start to the rebirth of an authentic African nation designed by the people, and not the politicians fostering genuine peace, security, justice, and equal opportunities for all citizens, not just the politicians.

The Free Liberia Movement further stated in bringing about this genuine change, will require a different system of governance where the people are the masters and the politician’s mere public servants.

The pro-democracy group argues that such a system already exists in Switzerland, the European Union, and 24 states in the United States!

“In these states, voters, not politicians determine the salaries of the public servants they elect. Voters, not politicians have veto power over laws made by lawmakers.”. The Free Liberia Movement asserted.

The Free Liberia Movement, furthermore, argues that contrary to the system where the voters decide the salaries and veto bad laws, the Liberian system of governance is designed to enrich and empower the politicians.

” The current Liberian system is a shame in which Voter’s vote, get angry when politicians are enriched and empowered but they can do nothing about it because Liberia isn’t a democracy. It was designed to enrich and empower politicians.”

“Only the citizens can keep this broken and corrupt system running for the next thousand years by voting and voting and voting for a bunch of politicians who cannot bring development or democracy. But the same people can vote for a different system by voting for themselves and equal opportunities for themselves and their children! Join the Free Liberia Movement and together let’s make the dream of equal opportunities a reality for all Liberians and end two centuries of corruption that originated from the Government of the United States and brutal American colonizers and slave masters.” The Free Liberia Movement was mentioned.

It may be recalled, that recently amidst huge public discontent, the Liberian Senate recalled a Bill seeking to grant each lawmaker and their family’s pension and other benefits until death, while the larger society including civil servants suffer the brut of hardship.

The recall came on the heels of a massive protest by the University of Liberia, campus-based student progressive Alliance (POSA), calling on the Legislature to enact the integrity Act seeking free tuition for Liberia students at both public and private institutions rather than an integrated pension and benefit Bill.

Meanwhile, the Group says the current denial of refunds by the United States Embassy near Monrovia, is unlawful and calls for a ‘visa waiver’, for Liberians.

The Free Liberia Movement spokesman, Rev. Torli Harlan Krua, said the United States must consider visa waivers for Liberians who are not just politicians desiring to travel to the United States for family, health, business, or education opportunities and should not be ‘unfairly exploited financially and denied visas after their “nonrefundable” visa fees are collected by the United States Embassy, earning millions of dollars by the Embassy unlawfully’.

The Free Liberia Movement argues that granting a visa waiver for Liberians is consistent with an agreement by 516 sovereign nations whose ties and contributions to America predated the United States Declaration of Independence to enjoy all privileges enjoyed by citizens of the United States of America as inalienable rights not given by men or constitutions and such rights can’t be taken away by men, courts, and constitutions!

The Group asserts that millions of citizens from 40 countries, including former enemies of the United States; Germany, South Korea, and Japan-with a population of 125 million enter the United States yearly without visas under the U.S. Visa waiver program, which is based on bilateral relationships between government,

Additionally, the Free Liberia Movement started those millions of citizens from five (5) territories controlled by the United States, including Puerto Rico, US Virgin Island, etc, enjoy all privileges of citizens of the United States.

“On this planet, Liberia is the only country created illegally by the United States of America, using the U.S. Military and American taxes and for the purposes of fulfilling American domestic and foreign policy objectives. According to American and Liberian laws still in force and international law of occupation and Article 1 of the 1824 constitution of Liberia which is still in force but has been hidden from Liberians for two centuries, (https://FreeLiberia.org) “All persons born in Liberia…are entitled to all privileges enjoyed by citizens of the United States.” The Free Liberia Movement concludes.

There has been no official response from the United States Embassy near Monrovia, after IPNEWS inquiry seeking clarity over this latest statement by the Free Liberia Movement, a pro-democracy group based in the United States.
