Solomon George, Your Utterances Were Outrageous

THIS IS THE one-million-dollar question that apparently occurred to the minds of well-meaning Liberians and others that listened to Representative Solomon George’s remarks on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, in the Township of West Point during the visit of President George Weah as part of the last leg of his nationwide tour that began in 2021.

“MR. PRESIDENT, IF you make me Inspector General (Director of Police) of the Liberia National Police, people will lose, because some people and some of us need to disappear for good things to appear and for Liberia to grow.”  These were Representative George’s words during a brief ceremony held for the President.

THE LAWMAKER’S REMARKS were not only outrageous but were also unrepresentative of a man, who represents several thousand people in the National Legislature.

HIS REMARKS DID not only shock the President whose body language suggested his disapproval, but they also exposed how politicians, especially those in the proximity of successive Liberian presidents, influenced them to become tyrannical or take the wrong decisions.

NOTED FOR HIS no-nonsense deportment and arrogance not only in the Montserrado County District #7 that he represents in the House of Representatives but in other places across the County, the Lawmaker’s remarks came amidst many reported mysterious disappearances and deaths across the Country.

SO, DOES HE have a hand in some of the reported mysterious disappearances and deaths or something is just mentally wrong with him?

ACCORDING TO THOSE who have known him over the years, Representative George, who is likely to seek reelection to the Legislature in 2023, is quick to emotions and has on so many occasions made reckless public statements and, in some instances, insulted women and as well rolled up his sleeves to physically attack those, who disagreed with him.

SO, IS SOMETHING mentally wrong with him or his unpolished demeanor is just congenital?

HOWEVER, WHEN THE coin is turned on the opposite side, others said the Montserrado County District #7 Lawmaker is a good man and does not sometimes mean harm but is just noted for disciplining people with an iron hand, bringing to mind his remarks in the past that a ‘bad sore requires a bad medicine’.

WHATEVER THE CASE is, Representative George has to realize that as a member of the first branch of the government, he is a public figure and an honorable man whose utterances and actions must be exemplary because anything contrary to that will continue to make people to wonder or ask as to whether something is mentally wrong with him.
