IPNEWS-Barclayville, Grand Kru: The Prosecutor of Barclayville Magisterial Court has spoken of frustration over the lack of office space for the smooth operations of the court in Grand Kru County.
According to John Nyanti, the court runs its daily activities at the County Administration Building, which he terms as embarrassment to Court actors during legal proceeding.
Magistrate Nyanti has called on humanitarian organizations and partners through the county authority to help construct a building that can be used by the Barclayville Magisterial Court.
He, in a related development, sent out calls and raised fears over the absence and of prison facility in the county.
He described the prevailing situation as negative impacting one of key components of criminal justice structure in Grand Kru County.
He said the issue of prison facility in the county has compelled authority in the county to transport perpetrators of major crimes, convicted criminals and pretrial detainees to different counties on commercial motto bikes.
He emphasized that when the prison facility is built, it will enhance and strengthen the three components of the legal system in an efficient release of the justice system
Adding, it will help restore citizens’ confidence in the legal system.
The Barclayville City Magistrate believed that, the issue of correction has resulted into correction officials rejecting inmates sent by various Magisterial courts in the county due to limited space at the withholding cell.
