IPNEWS-Monrovia: Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon vehemently refutes the argument and mixed reactions about the US$30,000 given to each lawmaker up Capitol Hill for legislative engagements and public accessibility.
Addressing a news conference Thursday, July 14, 2022 at his Capitol Hill office, the fire-burn Lawmaker narrated that since 2019 when he took loan from the United Bank for Africa (UBA) for his constituency break which he since liquidated, he (Sen. Dillon) has never taken any loan from any bank to be serviced by the government of Liberia.
He lamented the Business Class ticket he denied and later admitted when it was proven, and vowed to never to repeat such nonsense.
It can be recalled that in 2021 Hon Dillon was heavily criticized for riding Business Class when he questioned government officials who flew First Class, describing them as heartless individuals and did not care about the common people caught up in abject poverty.
Senator Dillon’s clarification comes in the wake of huge criticisms from the public regarding the 30K as mentioned by Montserrado County District #8 Representative Acarous Gray in his recent outburst on the issue of the money.
According to the Senator, he’s being attacked by the ruling party surrogates because of he has raised the bar high for public officials and his recent criticism against the Cabinet Retreat and the Recast Budget caught them off guard.
He then challenged President Weah and his officials to show record of the US$30’000 given to him and vowed to resign from his position as Senator if such evidence is brought to the public, he concluded. He spoke live on his official Facebook page from his Capitol Building Office in Monrovia.
