US Deputy Chief of Mission Advises Students to Stay Curious and Persistent

IPNEWS – Monrovia: Last Friday, Deputy Chief of Mission Joel Maybury delivered the keynote speech at the 4th Annual National Press Club Exhibition held by Youth Media Action (YMA) in collaboration with USAID/Liberia and Internews.

At the yearly exhibition, high school students who are trained by YMA in news production, writing, and marketing gave their best presentations to the judges.

DCM Maybury was thoroughly impressed with the young, aspiring journalists! As a former journalist himself, he advised students to “stay curious and persistent” to succeed in the field.

The U.S. Government believes that strong, independent media is good for a healthy democracy. We provide training and exchange opportunities to journalists, conduct community media forums, enable activities like public debates, and enhance the capacities of community radio stations.
