Two Sentenced in Tubmanburg for 30 Years – As Fight against Rape Gets Tougher

IPNEWS-Monrovia: Judge Peter Gbeneweleh who is the presiding Judge of the eleventh (11) Judicial Circuit Court in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, sentences two men to 30 years of imprisonment for gang rape among others.

On Monday, July 4, 2022, the two defendants were sentenced after they were handed down a guilty verdict for the commission of crimes of rape, involuntary sodomy, sexual assault and criminal conspiracy.

In the indictment, defendant Abdullah sheriff and David Onanah on the 16th of May induced a female through alcohol at a local bar in the area.

The indictment further disclosed that the defendants purchased alcohol worth LD$ 5,000 to LD$ 6,000 at the famous Planet 44 Night Club in Tubmanburg city, were the victim had gone to celebrate her birthday.

Following the birthday, the two named defendants gave the victim drinks in a red cup, something that made her helpless and unable to resist the act, the court document revealed.

In a testimony to the court, the rape survivor narrated that she was taken to co-defendant David Onanah’s room so as to enable defendant Abdullah sheriff have sex with her; Writes James Lehmer Hiama, Jr.; hiamajames@gmail.com.
