IPNEWS: This new year ushered in new dreams, new resolutions, and new babies. Seven mothers at the John F. Kennedy Maternity Ward delivered healthy babies on New Year’s Day.
To celebrate and recognize the importance of these new lives, Lonestar Cell MTN Y’ello Santa Team gifted the new moms with special packages.
All seven mothers received a package full of diapers, baby clothes and shoes, sanitary napkins, baby wipes, Dettol, Clorox, soap, burning power, blankets, bottles, and more. Thinking of their children’s future education, the Y’ello Santa team gave each new mom backpacks. These backpacks contained pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners, copybooks, coloring books crayons, rulers, calculators, hand sanitizers, sanitary napkins, water bottles, and more.
The on-site Supervisor of the Maternity Ward, Mistress Kollie, thanked the Lonestar Cell MTN Team for their thoughtful initiative on behalf of the JFK Medical Center.
“This is the second year in a row that Lonestar Cell MTN has visited the new moms. It makes such a difference in their lives. Some mothers come here to deliver their babies with nothing so, their gifts meet real needs.”
The Y’ello Santa Team then surprised 11 young people and their families in the JFK Children’s ward with assorted personal care items and book bags.
The Team traveled to the Kakata Health Center in Margibi County, where CH Rennie medical staff cared for pregnant women and new moms since the Hospital burned down in August 2021.
Dr. Yarvoh Moore is the Medical Director for the CH Rennie Hospital and runs the Kakata Health Center.
“When the mothers come to the clinic, they are not prepared. So, this donation ensures that these new moms do not have to worry about buying items for themselves and their babies.”
The Y’ello Santa team distributed packages to nearly 30 new moms there.
Meanwhile, the Y’ello Santa Team thought to identify with young people in orphanages during the holiday season. The Team visited the Teamas Children’s Welfare Center Orphanage in Clay, Bomi County.
They played football, practiced yoga together, and encouraged the 49 boys and girls living in the orphanage to think and believe in positive futures. The Ministry of Gender and Social Welfare sanctioned orphanage cares for children ranging in age from preschool to high school.
The young people received book bags with the school supplies. The telecommunications company also donated rice to the orphanage.
James Weefar, the orphanage, on-site Supervisor, said that the staff looked up to God to provide for the orphans this season.
“Our children, particularly the older ones, walk nearly 30 minutes to school, carrying their copy books and pens in their hands. The children now have bookbags to hold their items in.”
The orphanage provided a special Christmas dinner for the children with the rice provided by the company.
“Lonestar Cell MTN’s donation came right on time,” he said.
The Y’ello Santa team also donated rice and other supplies to the Children’s Future Program and Orphanage in Kakata, Margibi County.
Corporate Communications and Social Responsibility Manager, Lisa R. White, said, “Ultimately, we want to ensure mothers and their babies get off to a good start by providing the necessary items. We encourage the importance of education with the distribution of backpacks and school supplies. We are a Liberian company that cares deeply for the people we serve.
She added, “We make an extra special effort to bring joy to our customers especially during the holiday season through the Momo Discount Market, gift giveaways, donations to orphans, children, and new mothers. Caring and giving back to our customers is at the core of who we are as a company.”
