IPNEWS-Monrovia: In spite of heightening calls for a violence-free environment for women and children in Liberia, a two-year-old girl, Hannah Pewee has reportedly been killed by man identified as Friday Zian due to the deceased father’s alleged failure to pay his debt.
According the information received by IPNEWS, the minor was stabbed multiple times to death on August 10, 2021 in the ITI community in Rivercess County by Friday Zian commonly known as Bill, transferring his anger to the deceased due to her father alleged failure to pay him back .
Even though IPNEWS had tried to obtain the value of goods and services or the total amount of money indebted to Kian but to no avail.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection has condemned the act and called for prompt justice in over Zian’s action
The Minister maintains Friday Zian action is completely inhumane as the Ministry supports the family of the deceased in the quest to seek justice for the loss of the innocent minor Hannah.
The Ministry has meanwhile instructed its Rivercess County team to provide psychosocial counseling for the deceased immediate family while they await the legal proceeding.
Given her position statement in Monrovia on Friday August 13, 2021, Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister Williametta E. Saydee-Tarr said, “We empathize and sympathize with the deceased family during these stressful and unfortunate times. We cannot fathom as to why someone will heartlessly squeeze out the life of an innocent young soul. This is so disheartening and inhuman! We call on the court to render uncompromising justice”.
The Minister confirmed the Liberia National Police detachment in Rivercess County immediately arrested and subsequently forwarded to court the alleged perpetrator and now awaits speedy court trial. She assured the public that they will remain engaged in ensuring that justice is served for little Hannah Pewee.
