IPNEWS – Grand Bass County: Astonishment and lack of words could be seen on the faces of onlookers who had gathered at the home of a man in Wee District, Grand Bassa County, who had allegedly hanged himself.
54-year-old James Mardin’s lifeless body was discovered dangling from a rope at his residence.
Relatives of the deceased, told reporters in Grand Bassa that the incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday February 17, in Gbaynee’s Town, Wee Statutory District, Grand Bassa County.
When officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) Crime Services Division (CSD) arrived on the scene, they setup a 15-man jury to conduct search on the victim’s corpse.
The jury reported no foul play after their search on Mardin’s corpse.
His body was immediately turned over to the family for burial.
The Deputy County Commander of the Crimes Services Division in Wee District, Inspector Isaac S. Dueh Jr., told journalists that Mardin had stated in a note he left behind that no one should be held responsible for his death.
In the note, copy of which the newspaper has seen, Mardin allegedly wrote:
“Do not hold my children for this nor my wife, they are innocent.
My vision in last September has been so high through the power of the Lord Jesus Christ to being peace into Israel b/w Muslims and Christians, thus under Christian Principles in the image of Jacob, Abraham’s son because evil is dominating in the world today. Whiy Israel being a blood bath country today? And the world powers have tried and to no avail for peace to restore. It has been my burning desire for peace. Christian Community let’s pray hard for us to achieve this peace or light through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen!
This vision was turned around by evil allies against me. All my friends despise me why?
-James Mardin”
Stating further what Mardin had written and left behind according to Inspector Dueh, the LNP officer further stated that the deceased had wanted his body buried “immediately” and not embalmed.
The deceased’s wife, Baby D. Mardin, pleaded with the district authorities and police to immediately honor her late husband’s wish of being buried immediately.
She disclosed that she and her late husband were legally married and had 12 children.
