IPNEWS – GBARNGA – Vice President Chief Dr. Jewel Howard Taylor Sunday, January 17, celebrated her 58th birthday with appreciation to God for giving her good health.
According to VP Taylor, it is only God, through the prayers from the pastors, family members friends, that brought her back after spending days in the Intensive Care Unit at a hospital in Ghana.
She indicated that it was at the hospital that she encountered, what she described as “the true voice of God.”
The Veep traveled to the central Bong County city of Gbarnga, where she decided to spend the day celebrating her birthday. At a thanksgiving service on Sunday, which was held at Christ Vision International Church, Vice President Taylor said the Covid-19 pandemic is true. She further disclosed that she had difficult time when she came down with the virus.
Chief Suacoco as she is known in that part of Liberia, she vowed her commitment to God and to work harder in the interest of the people of Liberia.
The Vice-President’s thanksgiving service was also attended by some of the county’s hierarchies and others, including Legislative Caucus, Superintendent, religious and civil society communities.
Rev. James Paye, who preached the sermon, called on the government and Liberians to put the past behind them and work harder for the development of their country. According to the preacher man, only positive thoughts will develop the nation.
Rev. Paye further urged Liberians to stop fooling around and get engaged in work.
Also speaking, Bong County Legislative Caucus Chairman Papa Kolleh urged the Church, which had organized the service in the Veep’s honor, to organize such service in all the districts in the county. Rep. Kolleh said he was proposing this because it will serve as way to reconcile the county as the December 8th Special Senatorial election brought division in the county.
He disclosed that county’s Legislative Caucus is now working on reconciliation. He also called on Veep Taylor to reach out to other caucus members, who didn’t attend the event, describing her as the “Mother of the county.”
According to him, reaching out to those who have personal reasons for not honoring the event will make Bong’s inhabitants regain confidence in their leaders.
