IPNews-Monrovia: Several citizens of Bong County have called on the government to reopen the Phebe Referral hospital and the African Fundamental Baptist Hospital.
Since the closure of the Phebe Referral hospital and the African Fundamental Baptist Medical Center, hundreds of citizens are left in a complete limbo as they are giving themselves self-prescription as well as living by the mercy of God.
They have also attributed most of the deaths in the county to the closure of the two major health facilities.
Recently, the Infections and Prevention Control Pillar Lead Dr. Sampson Arzoaquoi said the hospital closure was intended to decontaminate the area.
The Infections and Prevention Control Pillar Lead Dr. Sampson Arzoaquoi narrated that those in critical conditions will be reserved for few hours in order to acquire speedy treatment.
The closure of Phebe hospital came barely three days after the Hospital Management through its Communications Director Mr. Samuel B. Kplawiru announced the temporary closure of the referral hospital emergency room to help combat the rapid spread of the coronavirus.
The hospital’s Chief Medical Director Dr. Jefferson Sibly and additional seven health workers were later tested positive of COVID-19 and are currently in isolation at Phebe undergoing supportive treatment.
According to report, the seven nurses tested positive of the virus are health workers assigned at the Phebe Hospital emergency room.
