Over street demonstration by Beach cleaners, Gov’t agreed to Pay four months arrears

IPNews-Monrovia: The Government of Liberia has agreed to pay four out of twenty one months it owed workers of the Beaches and Water Way Project.

The disclosure was made by Youth and Sports Minister Zeogar Wilson on Monday when he addressed aggrieved workers in the Borough of New Kru Town yesterday.

It may be recalled; workers of the Beach and Water Way Project have in recent time staged series of street protests in demand of their twenty one months owned them by the government.

Minister Wilson admitted that after a careful review of the workers plight, a total of Five million Five Hundred Twenty Five Thousand and Ninety United States Dollars is owed them for nine months as of 2018 and addtional ten months in 2019, while January/February in 2020 subject to investigation.

According to the Youth and Sports and Minister, the Government of Liberia has negotiated settlement of the payroll arrears at lower than is owned based on analysis done.

The Liberian Youth and Sports Minister Zeogar Wilson made the statement when he addressed several aggrieved workers in the Borough of New Kru Town.
