Controversy deepens over Gov’t Food Aid Distribution

IPNews-Monrovia: A member of the Liberian Senate has clarified that controversial US nine million dollars given to the World Food Program for food distributions across the country was given by the International Monetary Fund to the IMF and not the government of Liberia as being speculates.

Recently, Montserrado county Senator Saah Joseph in his Facebook page post condemned the US nine million fees charged by the WFP to distribute food across the country.

The Montserrado senator who chaired the Senate committee on executive noted that a poor country like Liberia should not be allowed to pay such an amount for food distributions.

It may be recalled in a communication to members of the 54th National Legislature, President George M. Weah proposed US 37 million for Household feeling which was approved by that August body.

Speaking on a local radio Monday in Monrovia, Senator Joseph revealed that the money in question is not free money noting that the government of Liberia will pay back and calls on his colleagues to investigate why the food distribution has not go ahead.
