Death of German National in Buchanan sparks mixed reaction; As LNP Launches Manhunt for suspected Armed Robbery

IPNews-Monrovia: Mixed reactions are breeding in the port city of Buchanan a day following the death of German national Juergen Schedenann.

Juergen Schedenann who is said to have a Liberian wife,(name withheld),  married on May 19, 2015, at the Sunset beach, is a friendly business man in Buchanna and the news of his death sparks mixed feelings among residents.

According to IPNews reporter currently in Buchanan, there are mixed speculations ranging from an alleged love stories between the wife and another Liberian boy who many believed might have been the mastermind of the attack on the German national.

IPNews could not independently verified this information as investigations are still underway.

Others talked to wonders why would Juergen Schedenann be killed a day following his return from the camp in Big Joe Town, No. 2 district, Grand Bassa County, to be kill?

But contrary to these speculations, the Liberia National Police has attributed the death to armed robbery.

The LNP in a release this afternoon states that it has launched a manhunt for eight armed robbery suspects involved in the brutal murder of a German national, Juergen Schedenann an expatriate employee of a logging company, the International Consultants Company (ICC) based in Big Joe Town Community, Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County.

The LNP said its responding officers, when the incident occurred about 2:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, gathered that some unidentified suspected armed with guns and cutlasses forcibly gained entry through the main gate of the company’s fence, damaging the lock with an unknown object.

The LNP release stated that in the process, the suspects got into a serious tussle with victim Schedenann and allegedly shot him beneath his abdomen.

Victim Juergen Schedenann sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Buchanan hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors.

Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police has launched a robust operation in Buchanan to ensure that all those involved in this armed robbery are arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.

The LNP has also taken immediate steps by deploying Police Officers at the company’s facility to prevent any threat to the company while efforts are currently being made to arrest the suspects.

The Inspector General takes such issue very seriously and has vowed to ensure that all those connected to said crime will be made to face the full weight of the law.
