Gov’t confirms Fresh LRD disbursement,But Two lawmakers term the move as ‘Legislative violation’

IPNEWS-MONROVIA: Information Minister Eugene Nagbe has Confirmed that the Central Bank of Liberia has released new Liberia
banknotes to help resolve the country current financial crisis.

It can be recalled recently, huge speculations circulated over  the shortage of Liberian  dollars at verious commercial banks in the country.

The lack of Liberian bank notes has made it simply  impossible  for the government to pay civil servants two months of salaries.

But speaking to the Voice of America information minister Eugene Nagbe said the government didn’t print any new banknotes as being speculated,  but release from it’s vault new banknotes to address some urgent issues such as the payment of civil servants among others.

At the same time minister Nagbe has clearfield that the millions of United States dollars recently brought in the country on Kenya Air waves was take from the country off show reserved in
the United States of America.

Meanwhile,  two members of the house of representatives Nimba
county district 8 representative Larry Younquio and Grand Bass County district 5 representative Thomas Goshua has writing the plenary of the lower house to
invite authorities of the Central Bank of Liberia to explain to that body the source of monies in the country.

In their communication to Plenary the two lawmakers noted that for over two months commercial banks have been seen facing serious challenges as it relates to scarcity
of liberian dollars on the liberian market.
The two noted that the unusual flow of new Liberian dollar banknotes at a time when there is speculations about the illegal printing of additional money awaiting legislative approval for infusion into the market is unacceptable.

Additionally, Members of the lower house failed to reach a decision of their colleagues communication due to the state funeral over the remains of fallen Liberty Party political leader Charles Brumskine as they set Friday to debate the matter.

Nimba county district 5 Representatives Larry Younquio
is one of the proponents of the communication he spoke to legislative reporters Thursday on capitol hills.

At the same time Representative Younquio has clarified that at no time did members of the house of
representatives approved the printing of new banknotes
contrary to speaker Chambers assession that members of that body has approved request from President George Weah to print new banknotes.
