IPNews-Monrovia: The Government of the People’s Republic of China through its embassy near Monrovia has vowed to continue the provision of scholarship and training opportunities to Liberian youths and open more bilateral classes designed to specially satisfy Liberian needs.
Chinese Ambassador Fu Jijun said in terms of health care collaboration, China has sent 13 groups of medical teams and donated a great quantity of medical equipment and medicine to Liberia.
Ambassador Fu said at a reception where he spoke on the fruitful China-Liberia collaboration in 2019 held at the Chinese Embassy in Monrovia, that the teams of Chinese doctors have worked together with their Liberian counterparts at JFK hospital and treated thousands of patients as well as trained hundreds Liberian medical workers.
“Each group of the Chinese medical teams provided free treatment and medicine to Liberian government officials and the people of local communities, I am glad that the 12th team which just finished their mission went as far as Maryland County to provide free medical services,” the Chinese diplomat noted.
Ambassador Fu emphasized that peace and security is a precondition of a country’s stability and prosperity, adding that, as a permanent member of the Security Council of the United Nations, China has been supporting Liberia’s peace building process.
“China has been providing logistics, medical supplies, training and other assistance to Liberian army, police and immigration services as well as supporting Liberian army to send troops to the UN peace keeping operation in Mali,” he cited.
Envoy Fu disclosed that in order to support the construction of the 14 military hospital, China will build a clinical reference laboratory and provide some medical equipment in it, adding that, China will also donate a fingerprint laboratory to the Liberia National Police(LNP) in order to strengthen its capacity to protect the Liberian people.
He said 2,675 tons of Chinese rice has been distributed this year to the ministries, security forces, hospitals, orphanages, and so on.
The Chinese Ambassador pointed out that a lot of foreign friends appreciate the great achievements that China has made and wonder the reason behind it.
According to him, the media is playing a vital role in Liberian prosperity and China-Liberia cooperation, and as such this year the embassy has arranged some media friends to visit China, stating that next year they will increase such programs. (courtesy of LINA)
