Roaming U.S. Designated Sanction personnel in Weah’s Gov’t undermines U.S. Assistance to Liberia?

IPNews-Monrovia: Diplomatic sources have hinted IPNews that the continuous appointment of numerous persons currently on the United States OFAC ‘Specially Designated Nationals And Blocked Persons list (SDN), are some factors for continue hold back on much needed assistance from the United States government.

The ‘Specially Designated Nationals And Blocked Persons’ list (SDN), involves list of individuals and companies owned or controlled by, or acting for or on behalf of, targeted countries. It also lists individuals, groups, and entities, such as terrorists and narcotics traffickers designated under programs that are not country-specific. Collectively, such individuals and companies are called “Specially Designated Nationals” or “SDNs.” Their assets are blocked and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from dealing with them.

In an updated list of ‘Specially Designated Nationals And Blocked Persons (SDN), published on October 14,2019, by the Treasury Department and obtained by IPNews captured names of some key officials in the government of President George Weah.

Those captured in the updated ‘Specially Designated Nationals And Blocked Persons, (SDN), list are: Jewell Howard TAYLOR, Vice President of Liberia and Wife of former President of Liberia Charles Taylor ; Cyril Allen, Chairman, Board of Directors, National Social Security & Welfare Corporation, NASSCORP and Chairman, Governing Council of the Coalition for Democratic Change-CDC; Charles R. Bright, Economic Advisor to the President, and statutory members of all Boards, Randolph Cooper, newly appointed Board Member, Iberia Petroleum Refinery Company, Kaddieyatu Darrah, Minister Counselor , Liberia Embassy, Republic of France, and Emmanuel Shaw, Advisor to the President .

Others named on the SDN are:  Moussa M. CISSE, Former Chief of Presidential Protocol of Liberia; Chairman, Mohammed Group of Companies; Belle Y. DUNBAR, Former Managing Director, Liberian Petroleum Refining Company;  Jenkins DUNBAR, (Deceased), Former Minister of Lands, Mines, Energy; Abbas FAWAS, President, Maryland Wood Processing Industries; President, United Logging Company; Myrtle GIBSON, Former Liberian Senator; advisor to former President of Liberia Charles Taylor; Reginald B. GOODRIDGE Sr., Former Minister for Culture, Information, Tourism of Liberia; Baba JOBE, Director, Gambia New Millennium Air Company; Joseph Wong KIIA TAI, Executive, Oriental Timber Company, Ali KLEILAT,  Lebanese Businessman; Gus KOUWENHOVEN, President, Oriental Timber Company; and Leonid MININ, Owner, Exotic Tropical Timber Enterprise.

The SDN list  further named Samir NASR,  Businessman; Former Deputy Commissioner, Bureau of Maritime Affairs of Liberia; Junita NEAL, Former Deputy Minister of Finance of Liberia; Mohamed Ahmad SALAMI, Owner, Mohamed Group of Companies; former President of Liberia Charles Taylor’s informal diplomatic representative; Foday SANKOH,  Deceased; Charles Ghankay TAYLOR, Former President of Liberia; Charles TAYLOR, (Junior) , Advisor and son of former President of Liberia Charles Taylor; Tupee TAYLOR, Ex-wife of former President of Liberia Charles Taylor; Agnes REEVES-TAYLOR, Ex-wife of former President of Liberia Charles Taylor; ex-Permanent Representative of Liberia to the International Maritime Organization; Benoni UREY, Chairman, Collaborating Political Party-CPP, Former Commissioner of Maritime Affairs OF Liberia; and Benjamin YEATON, Former Director, Special Security Services of Liberia.
