MCC Clean-UP Campaign Keeps UP Tomorrow-Major Koijee discloses

IPNews-Monrovia,Liberia-March 2,2018:Since his confirmation of ascendancy to the city Mayor Position of Monrovia, former youth chairman of the ruling party CDC, Jefferson Koijee has disclosed plans to embark on a major cleanup campaign on Saturday March 3, 2018.

According to the newly appointed mayor, the first lady of Liberia Madam Clar Weah is expected to participate in the first Saturday cleanup exercise under the auspices of the Monrovia City Corporation in Monrovia.

Making the disclosure on Wednesday February 28, 2018 in a press conference held at the MCC head office in Monrovia, major Koijee explained that the upcoming exercise code named, “Weah for clean city” will be formally launched at the Rally Time Market, UN Drive, where the first lady will participate in the collection of waste.

He said the “Weah for Clean City” is intended to create new dynamism with respect to the first Saturday cleaning-up exercise in order to strengthen a broader participation of MCC employees and the public at large.

“Particularly  promoting the local communities hygienic and sanitary environment for  residents of Monrovia and its environs in support of the government of Liberia’s “Pro-Poor Agenda” he added.

On Friday, February 9 during the confirmation hearing before the Senate’s Committee on Internal Affairs and Good Governance, former Youth Wing leader of the ruling CDC, promised to  work hard in cleaning up the capital city with measures that include citywide garbage reduction campaigns which aimed to increase public awareness of waste, sanitation, and overall public health.

He told the Senators that “Every citizen, regardless of his or her political, religious or tribal differences, will be involved in the transformation and governance of the city, especially in maintaining its beautification.”

The program is anticipated to begin with a walk through Broad and Mechlin Streets and will climaxed at the Stockton creek solid waste transfer station on UN drive.
